The new Jumanji Open World trailer brings the game’s danger into everyday life. Sony Pictures released the latest preview on October 28, 2026, ahead of the film’s Christmas theatrical launch.
According to Sony’s official film site, the console no longer contains the chaos. Instead, the game breaks into the real world. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan return for what the studio describes as the final film in this action-adventure trilogy.
Jumanji Open World trailer: what is confirmed?
Jake Kasdan directs and shares screenplay credit with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film draws on Chris Van Allsburg’s book. Meanwhile, Sony’s cast list also includes Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito.
The change in setting gives the sequel a clear hook. Rather than asking only how the characters escape a dangerous game, the premise puts their own world at risk. That is the idea Sony is selling here; the finished film still needs to make it work.
For now, this is a trailer announcement rather than a review. Promotional footage offers a glimpse of the comedy and adventure, but it cannot establish how the full story holds together. We are not assigning the film a rating on that basis.
When does the film reach cinemas?
The announced theatrical date is December 25, 2026. Animation World Network’s October 28 report confirms the new trailer and Christmas cinema release. However, that does not establish a streaming date or guarantee identical booking dates in every territory.
If you are planning a holiday cinema visit, check local listings as the opening approaches. In the meantime, the official trailer is available below. ComingSoon also covered the trailer launch on October 28.
