Other Mommy led the North American box office over October 9–11, 2026, with a reported $27.5 million opening. TheWrap’s October 11 report places the Universal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster horror film at the top of the weekend. Box Office Mojo’s weekend chart independently lists the same gross across 3,365 theaters.

The news here is the opening-weekend result, reported on October 11, rather than a new release announcement. NBCUniversal’s September 30 announcement had already identified October 9 as the film’s theatrical release date.

A familiar face in a disturbing double role

Jessica Chastain plays both a young girl’s mother and the entity that resembles her. According to NBCUniversal’s production description, the story follows Bela as she develops a relationship with a sinister presence inside her home. Rob Savage directs from Nathan Elston’s screenplay, adapting Josh Malerman’s novel Incidents Around the House. James Wan produces.

For audiences choosing a Halloween-season screening, that background establishes the film as a literary adaptation built around domestic supernatural horror. The premise turns a parent’s recognizable face into the source of the threat.

The opening is only the first measure

TheWrap reports a D+ CinemaScore alongside the opening gross. That makes the next weekend’s performance a useful question to follow: the initial ticket sales and the audience poll describe different aspects of the film’s reception. Neither supplies a final verdict on its theatrical run.
